Dame Vera Lynn was a singing sensation who honed her unique style in the working men’s clubs of London’s East End and later became a symbol of hope during the Second World War. Voted ‘The Forces’ Sweetheart’, she broadcast comfort across the airwaves with her radio show, Sincerely Yours, and performed and recorded until she was in her eighties and nineties. Dame Vera was also a tireless campaigner for veterans’ and children’s charities and her work lives on through her eponymous foundation, which supports children under the age of five who have motor-learning impairments.

As one of the United Kingdom’s most iconic entertainers, a new commemorative UK coin pays tribute to Dame Vera’s extraordinary life and legacy. Featuring a design by The Royal Mint Design Team, which was inspired by the hope and joy Dame Vera Lynn brought to millions.
