Description

It was decided that from 1984, British £1 coins would feature different reverse designs for each of the four countries of the United Kingdom. The silver proof one pound coin is British legal tender and is exempt from Capital Gains Tax.

The edge of the coin features the inscription NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT. This translates to No-one Provokes Me With Impunity.

Obverse

The obverse bears the fourth coin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley.

Reverse

The reverse features a standing lion rampant within a double tressure flory counter flory border. This design by Norman Sillman represents Scotland. The design sits above the value ONE POUND.
