The British 2p coin was first introduced on 15 February 1971, when the United Kingdom changed to decimal currency. The original reverse design, created by Christopher Ironside, features the Prince of Wales’s feathers and coronet, together with the denomination 2 NEW PENCE. The words “NEW PENCE” were removed from the design in 1982.

These proof 2p coins have been removed from Royal Mint Proof Sets and are supplied individually in a protective coin capsule, making them ideal for collectors who want to collect individual years without purchasing a complete proof set.
