Description
Whilst much has been written about the life of Queen Victoria, arguably the greatest source of information is the account of her life written by her own hand. From the age of 13, the future ‘Grandmother of Europe’ kept a comprehensive Journal that includes personal details alongside colourful illustrations and inserts. Today, these personal ponderings are stored in the Royal Archives and paint a detailed picture of one of history’s longest-reigning monarchs.
Now, The Royal Mint celebrates the life of Queen Victoria through her own words with a new UK coin. Created by Edwina Ellis, the reverse design features two images of Queen Victoria based on famous sculptures. Showing the monarch during two distinct periods of her life, the design also features the Royal Orb and a lace pattern inspired by the Honiton lace of her wedding dress.
- Accompanied by packaging that references Queen Victoria’s Journal entries, revealing insightful autobiographical details and the monarch’s personal tastes
- Dated 2026, the release coincides with the 125th anniversary of Queen Victoria’s death
- Featuring an ornate design and historical interpretations of the monarch, the decorative packaging captures the essence of the Victorian era
- The reverse design created by Edwina Ellis features two images of Queen Victoria along with a lace pattern and the Royal Orb
- The perfect keepsake for royal enthusiasts and those with an interest in Victorian Britain
