Description
The ‘Tourist Trophy’ is an annual motorcycle event held on the Isle of Man and known by motoring enthusiasts as the ‘Ultimate Road Race’.
Unbelievably, the first race was held in 1907 – exactly 90 years before this coin was issued and now over 110 years ago.
Surrounded by a wreath, the reverse of this coin shows two motorcyclists racing – Number 9 is leading Number 4 and turning right. The obverse of the coin shows Her Majesty the Queen by engraver Raphael David Maklouf.
The Isle of Man has become synonymous with the TT racing and there’s no doubt that keen collectors will snap up the small number of these coins we have available.
Due to the low population of the Island in comparison to the rest of the UK, this coin will almost certainly have a very low mintage figure. Additionally, it is not legal tender in the UK and therefore you will not find it in your change.
Both of these characteristics combined make this coin particularly scarce and collectable.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to secure your Isle of Man 1997 TT 50p coin.
