1999 Guernsey Millenium £5 Uncirculated Coin in Capsule

Description

One of the most remarkable coins issued to commemorate the end of the second Millennium and the beginning of the third, is the Royal Mint £5 Five Pound Collar Coin issued by the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
The reverse depicts the sea and sun’s rays which, when joined with the “Nugget” will form a complete design of Earth surrounded by the sun and sea. The obverse design features a miniture rendition of the Ian Rank Broadley portrait of Her Majesty the Queen.
The center piece marks the start of the twenty-first century with a pair of hands holding the world. The Collar is designed to join the combination of the two thus creating a unique coin that spans not only two centuries, but the move from one Millennium to another.
