Description
A change to the coinage of the United Kingdom.
The designs used on decimal coins for last 40 years were an elegant expression of important emblems of Britian. Now, in the twenty-first century, the time has come to rejuvenate the coinage by seeking designs that treat traditional symbols in an innovative and contemporary way.
Since decimalisation, three portraits of the Queen have appeared on the coins from the 1p to £1.
The new designs on the coins of 2008 are combined with the portrait of the Queen by Ian Rank-Broadley.
Each coin in the new series of designs from the 50p to the 1p features a portion of the Royal Arms.
Presented in a beautifully-illustrated presentation folder.
