Description
This official two-coin collectible set, issued by the UK’s Royal Mint, commemorates the life and legacy of Sir Winston Churchill. The set includes a 1965 Churchill Crown, struck to honor the passing of the renowned statesman. These cupronickel crowns were among the first UK commemorative coins ever issued, and notably, the first to feature a portrait of a non-royal figure. The obverse of the coin displays Mary Gillick’s iconic portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, her first definitive coin design. The historic 1965 coin is in good condition and presented in a protective capsule.
Accompanying the Crown is a new, brilliant uncirculated £5 coin, issued in 2015 to mark the 50th anniversary of Churchill’s death. This coin features a detailed portrait of Churchill by sculptor Mark Richards, alongside Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of Her Majesty the Queen. The brilliant uncirculated finish ensures that the coin’s designs are displayed with exceptional clarity, as intended by the artists.
This limited edition set, with only 5,000 available, is presented in its original card box and includes a certificate of authenticity and an informative booklet, detailing Churchill’s remarkable life and legacy.
