2017 King Canute £5 Silver Proof

Description

In 2017, to celebrate the 1000th Anniversary of the Coronation of King Canute, the Royal Mint released a Limited Issue King Canute £5 Five Pound Silver Proof Coin struck in solid .925 Sterling Silver.

The reverse, designed by Lee R. Jones, depicts a portrait of King Canute, the Viking conqueror hailed as the first King of England, while the obverse design features the Fifth Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
