Description
First in the series of ten £5 coins are the Lion of England and the Unicorn of Scotland. Both of these beasts are supporters of the Royal Arms – the royal badge that represents the monarchy and the United Kingdom. The pair are seen in many everyday places, including on British passports. The Lion of England, a classic symbol of strength in British heraldry, leads the pack. The ‘King of the Beasts’ captured on this £5 coin has been finished to Brilliant Uncirculated standard.
The coins were previously only available in precious metals, but the release of the collection in Brilliant Uncirculated editions brings them to a new audience. Each coin is presented in packaging that has been specially designed for the Brilliant Uncirculated editions of The Queen’s Beasts Collection – colourful, informative fold-out wallets that display the coins and capture the imagination.
