This year’s commemorative $1 circulation coin highlights the 125th anniversary of the Klondike Gold Rush. The 1896 gold discovery that started it all is depicted on the commemorative dollar, selectively coloured versions. The reverse design depicts the red-and-white pictorial representation of Ëdhä Dädhëchą (Moosehide Slide)— an important cultural symbol seen on an iconic drum held by Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in leader Chief Isaac in historical photos. It ensures the full experience of Yukon’s gold rush the Klondike Gold Rush days will always be remain part of our collective memory.
