Disney’s Winnie the Pooh and his loveable Friends have charmed readers ever since the frst book, written by A. A. Milne and illustrated by E. H. Shepard, was published 95 years ago. Now, The Royal Mint is continuing the adventure with the release of three new coins in the popular Winnie the Pooh and Friends UK 50p Coin Collection.
The frst coin in the series for 2021 is a special edition in honour of the 95th anniversary and features Winnie the Pooh and other familiar faces from the Hundred Acre Wood to mark this momentous occasion. Her Majesty Tke Queen was born in the same year that the frst book was released – 1926 – and appears on the obverse of each coin in the collection in a defnitive coinage portrait by Jody Clark. A buzzing bee also unites the collection and can be found on each of the reverse designs. Featuring original illustrations by E. H. Shepard, this commemorative coin is the perfect keepsake for fans of Winnie the Pooh and a wonderful way to mark 95 years of friendship, adventure and storytelling.
