History and Design Significance:

The Australia’s Coat of Arms series began in 2021 with a coin featuring the Commonwealth Coat of Arms. This second release celebrates the NSW Coat of Arms, which was granted by King Edward VII in 1906. The design skillfully combines historic elements with a modern touch, offering a rich visual narrative.

Obverse: Features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, alongside the lion and pointed stars from the NSW Coat of Arms. The British Cross divides the background, adorned with eight Tudor Roses, paying homage to Australia’s colonial history.

Reverse: Showcases an array of distinctly Australian symbols, including a kangaroo, Merino sheep, wheat, and the waratah—NSW’s floral emblem. The design also incorporates the floral emblems of other Australian states, encircled by stylized wattle representing the rays of a rising sun.
