2025 marks 200 years since the first passenger steam train began its journery, an innovation that transformed travel and industry worldwide. To commemorate this landmark in railway history a new 50 pence coin has now been released.

This official coin celebrates the bicentenary of passenger steam rail travel and is now available for collectors and enthusiasts alike. It is a fitting tribute to one of the most significant milestones in transport history.

The obverse of this coin features the Gibraltar Coat of Arms accompanied by the inscription Charles III – King of Gibraltar, the denomination and year 2025.
