Description

Monnaie de Paris marks the 75^th anniversary of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Alice in Wonderland in 2026.

In 1951, the film adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s novels tells the story of Alice, who follows a White Rabbit, falls down a rabbit hole and finds herself in Wonderland, a strange world populated by peculiar creatures. During this adventure, Alice encounters a talking doorknob, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Caterpillar, as well as the Mad Hatter and the March Hare celebrating an unbirthday. Her journey, which takes an increasingly absurd and chaotic turn, culminating in a final showdown with the Queen of Hearts and her army of playing cards, turns out to be nothing more than a dream, from which Alice eventually wakes up in the real world.
