One of the most beloved Christmas stories of the twentieth century, The Snowman has been enchanting children and adults alike since its original publication in 1978. Memorably adapted into a film in 1982, the legacy of Raymond Briggs’ iconic snowman has only grown bigger with time, and the book remains as popular today as it was when the fresh snow settled all those years ago.
This year marks the ninth occasion The Snowman has graced an official UK coin from The Royal Mint and features an original design by BAFTA-nominated animator and illustrator Robin Shaw. Custodian of The SnowmanTM artwork since 2018, he has depicted the eponymous character decorating a Christmas tree with the young boy who made him in a beautiful artistic summation of the story.
Each UK coin is presented in bespoke packaging and guaranteed to bring the joy of the festive season to collectors of all ages this Christmastime.
