In 1997 the Royal Mint released a very Limited Issue £1 One Pound Silver Proof 4 Coin Set to represent the four constituent parts of the United Kingdom.

Commencing in 1994 with a coin for Scotland, the series continued with coins representing Wales and Northern Ireland and culminated in 1997 with a coin for England.
The obverse of all the coins have the splendid portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Raphael Maklouf.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
