The 2002 Masterpieces in Silver- Proof sterling silver four coin set features the four vessels that played an important part in the discovery and settlement of Australia by Europeans. The four vessels on the silver proof coins:
- The Duyfken: the first European vessel to record sighting of the Australian land mass under the command of Willem Janszoon
- HM Bark Endeavour: which sailed during 1769-1771 under the command of Captain James Cook
- HMS Sirius: which was part of the first fleet to arrive in Australia and was commanded by Captain Arthur Phillip
- HMS Investigator: which 200 years ago began the first circumnavigation of the Australian Mainland by Mathew Flinders
Each coin features a different reverse design by Vladimir Gottwald, along with the ship name and the monetary denomination. Each coins weighs 36.31 grams and is 999.0 fine silver, total ASW: 145.24 grams. Supplied in presentation case and outer card box with Certificate of Authenticity.
