Description
In 2013 to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the London Underground, the Royal Mint released Limited Issue London Underground Roundel and Train £2 Two Pound Silver Proof Coin struck in solid .925 Sterling Silver.
Roundel:
The reverse designed by Edwina Ellis depicts the London Underground Roundel Logo while the obverse design features the stunning portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank Broadley.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
Train:
The reverse designed by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby who as also designed the London 2012 Olympic Torch depicts a 1967 Victoria Line Train and uses texture and perspectives to reflect the light and create a sense of movement. It also carries an unusual edge pattern inspired by Harry Beckís iconic Tube map.
The obverse design is the stunning portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank Broadley.
