Description
The gold Half Sovereign was first struck in the reign of Queen Elizabeth II in 1980. Since that issue, it has carried three different portraits of the Queen
The first portrait by Machin was in use until 1984 and the following year the portrait of Maklouf took its place. THen in 1998 it was too superseded by the portrait of Rank-Broadley. St. George and the Dragon has been the reverse motif common to all three portraits.
